Medical Neuro-Oncology Fellowship Program
Program Description
Our Medical Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center is accredited by the United Council for Neurological Subspecialties. The program enables fellows to acquire an advanced body of knowledge and level of skill in the management of neuro-oncology patients in order to assume a leadership role in teaching and research in the field. The graduating fellows will be highly trained in neuro-oncology and have the potential to become leaders in the field. Moffitt is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in the state of Florida.
Clinical Program
This is a one-year clinical fellowship with an optional second year of research. The first year focuses on clinical neuro-oncology with a broad exposure to all aspects of neuro-oncology and different primary brain tumors, metastatic brain tumors and neurologic complications of systemic cancer. Because the Department includes specialists from Neurology, Medical Neuro-Oncology, and Neurosurgery, there are rotations in Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, Neuro Pathology and Personalized/Molecular Medicine. Electives are also available and tailored to individual needs. The second year is optional and focuses on clinical, translational, and basic research in Neuro-Oncology.
Research Opportunities
Fellows are expected to participate in clinical trials, translational research, and case studies under the supervision of an Attending with the expectation of publication in peer reviewed journals and presentation at local or national conferences. There is a Department database and the Total Cancer Care program can be accessed to obtain comprehensive genomic and ancillary data as well. Fellows will also be expected to participate in the robust phase 1 & 2 clinical trials program.

Eligibility
- The fellow must possess a current valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States.
- The fellow must be a graduate of a residency program in neurology [or other specific program types specified by the Subspecialty] accredited by the ACGME.
- The fellow must be board certified or eligible for certification in a primary ABMS.
- This program does not sponsor visas.
