Neuro-Oncology Program
What a Patient Should Expect
As a new patient, the physician and primary nurse will complete your initial evaluation. This team, along with other team members as needed, work to manage and coordinate your care and follow-up. Your primary nurse will provide education, instructions and ongoing telephone support. You may also see the neuro-oncology nurse practitioner, neuro-oncology physician assistant, case manager, pharmacist, social worker, nutritionist, clinical trials coordinator or neuro-psychologist – all as part of the "team approach" to your care. This can be a lengthy visit and MAY last several hours.
The Neuro-Oncology Clinic is located on the first floor of the Moffitt Cancer Center main building. Please follow the signs for the Gold Valet area located in the motor court between the Moffitt Clinic Building and the Stabile Research Building. Please arrive 30 minutes early for your appointment so the clinic staff can check you in and complete the registration process. Click here for maps and directions.
During treatment
Neuro-Oncology patients may be referred for surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation treatment. During each of these treatments, patients are followed in that respective area until treatment is complete. The neuro oncology nurses, physicians and nurse practitioners/physician assistants are also available to the patients to address any other concerns that may come up during the treatment.
