Research Interests:

My research interests involve the translation of molecular genetic knowledge into clinical diagnostic tests for the evaluation and management of hematopoietic and solid tumor malignancies. This includes investigation into and acquisition of data concerning genotype-phenotype correlations that will allow us to optimize the clinical utility of molecular testing. In addition, I am actively engaged in research on the ethical, social, and legal implications of the human genome project (ELSI), with particular emphases in the areas of intellectual property and FDA and CLIA-related regulation.

Clinical Interests:

My clinical interests involve the development and application of molecular diagnostic testing for routine clinical use. This includes the evaluation of molecular genetic changes associated with hematology/oncology diagnosis, prognosis, and patient response to therapeutic agents. I serve as a clinical consultant on issues associated with the application and interpretation of molecular diagnostic testing in the areas of hematology and oncology. In addition, I serve as a laboratory director and clinical consultant on coagulation and other patient-related hematology issues.
