Research Day is the culmination of the SPARK participants’ accomplishments. At the conclusion of the program, students deliver their research findings via a PowerPoint presentation and a complementary oral commentary.

The following is a sample of last year’s presentations:

Ronda Bostick, “Transcriptional activation of PRD in B-cells”
Andy De, “Src expression in a mouse model”
Christopher Griggs, “Gene silencing of PTEN by small interfering RNA duplexes”
Michelle Jordon, “The effect of stat 3 signaling on TAP expression"
Naveen Kumar, “Searching for novel proteasome inhibitors as potential anti-cancer agents”
Kim Nguyen, “V-beta analysis and phenotyping of large granular lymphocyte leukemia”
Derrick Paredes, “Amplification of limiting quantities of RA for microarray analysis”
Matthew Willey, “Post-transcriptional processing of XBP-1 mRNA"
Daniel Yoder, “The differentiation and recruitment of tumor associated immature myeloid cells”
Ashley Anderson, “Tumor cell based vaccination against lymphomas"
Justin Anderson, “Activity SRC mutations and lung cancer”
Mary Chen, “The MT experiments: Effects of melphalan and topotecan on DNA Topoisomerase I & Topoisomerase II  of H929 cells in vitro”
Phil Harrington, “The isolation and reproduction of monclonal antibodies"
Jacqueline Hodges, “Loss of UGT2B17 and UGT2B15 gene expression may cause colon cells to become tumorigenic”
Kimberly Kern, “Cloning of UGTs Important in Cancer Risk”
Kenisha Pemberton, “A fatal Attraction: Pregnancy and Smoking"
Ileana Suciu, “The cytotoxic effect of Sti-571 in multiple myeloma cell lines correlate with decreased c-Kit phosphorylation and increased sensitivity in chemotherapy”
Jeremy Tharp, "Development of SiRNA for Gabs"
Zachary Weidner, “Effects of SAHA and epirubicin on topoisomerase II in breast cancer cells”
