Join us as we explore and present information on the nexus of cancer, culture and literacy!
The Cancer, Culture and Literacy Conference offers extraordinary networking and learning opportunities for individuals wanting to learn more about the roles of culture, language and literacy in cancer health disparities and in the design, implementation and evaluation of cancer communications, research programs and educational interventions. Hosted by the Moffitt Cancer Center, the conference provides a national forum for the exchange and dissemination of information covering innovative research, novel training programs, and emerging research communications. A particular emphasis on survivorship communications is highlighted at this meeting.
This three-day conference offers a number of interactive activities including pre-conference skill-building workshops, plenary and breakout sessions, breakfast roundtables and a poster session. Seminars that focus on qualitative methods, development of patient education materials and community-based participatory methods will again be featured.
The conference contributes to our understanding of cancer awareness needs in consideration of social, cultural, and literacy contexts. Ultimately, the goal is for attendees to incorporate culture and literacy components into the development of their communications, research, educational and outreach programs.
Conference participants include researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, lay persons and survivors involved in creating culturally, linguistically and literacy relevant cancer communications, innovative materials/media, programs and research interventions. A variety of professional accreditation and continuing education contact hours will be offered.
