Dr. Edward Bass is a faculty member of the Neuro-Oncology Department at Moffitt Cancer Center and an assistant professor at the University of South Florida. He specializes in complex neurological conditions related to stroke, neuropathy, encephalitis and neurotoxicity as a complication of chemotherapy, as well as interpretation of EEG, EMG and nerve conduction study test results.
A prominent neurologist in private practice for more than 20 years, Dr. Bass served as chairman of neurology at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, before joining Moffitt in 2011. While at St. Joseph’s, he helped establish the hospital’s Transcranial Doppler Service and directed the certified regional stroke center.
Dr. Bass is a native of Canada and fluent in English and French. He completed his medical school training at McGill University in Quebec and Wake Forrest University in North Carolina, and is board certified by both the Royal College of Physicians and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Before coming to Tampa Bay, Dr. Bass established Montreal’s first comprehensive stroke program and carotid sonogram lab at Jewish General Hospital, a teaching hospital of McGill University.
Dr. Bass is a fellow of the Stroke Council of the American Heart Association.
