Dr. Ernesto Ayala is medical oncologist in the Department of Blood and Marrow Transplant at Moffitt Cancer Center and an assistant professor of oncology at the University of South Florida.
Dr. Ayala’s research interests include non-Hodgkin lymphoma, bone marrow transplant for non-Hodgkin, Hodgkin lymphoma and leukemia and graft-versus-host disease.
A graduate of the Universidad Nacional de Columbia in South America, Dr. Ayala completed further training in oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Columbia, where he was a staff physician in the intensive care unit. He also served a residency in hematology/oncology at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he received the best teaching resident award in internal medicine for 2000.
Dr. Ayala is an active member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He also serves on the lymphoma working committee at the Center for International Bone Marrow Transplantation Research. In 2004, he received a travel award from the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
In addition, Dr. Ayala has authored several book chapters, published articles in numerous professional journals and been a guest speaker at physician conferences.
