Dr. Wade Jeffers Sexton is a genitourinary oncology surgeon and director of the urologic oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center. He is also an associate professor of oncology at the University of South Florida.
After receiving his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine on a U.S. Air Force-sponsored scholarship, Dr. Sexton completed his residency at Wake Forest University-Baptist Medical Center, where he was chief urology resident. His fellowship training in oncology took place at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Before coming to Moffitt, Dr. Sexton completed his active duty military service, serving in England and then Texas, where he was director of urologic oncology at Lackland Air Force Base.
Dr. Sexton has a special interest in minimally invasive kidney-sparing procedures, bladder reconstruction and nerve preservation surgery, as well as advanced urologic laparoscopic procedures for kidney, bladder, testis, prostate and penile cancer. He is a member of the Florida Urologic Society executive committee and a bladder cancer panel member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
Dr. Sexton was named to Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering in 2011.
