How To Submit Articles to Cancer Control: Journal of the Moffitt Cancer
Center
Cancer Control:Journal of the Moffitt Cancer Center is a bimonthly,
peer-reviewed journal that is published to enhance the knowledge needed by professionals
in oncology to help them minimize the impact of human amlignancy. Each issue emphasizes a
specific theme relating to the detection or management of cancer. The objectives of Cancer
Control are to define the current state of cancer care, to integrate recently
generated information with historical practice patterns, to enlighten readers through
critical reviews, commentaries, and analyses of recent research studies and case studies,
and to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer.
All articles submitted to the editor of Cancer Control are peer reviewed by
recognized professionals in the filed. Peer reviewer comments and suggestions for revision
of accepted atricles are incorprated at the discretion of the editors.
Guidelines for Authors:
1. The text should be typewritten, double-spaced and accompanied by an IBM-compatible
diskette. Please submit three hard copies.
2. Length is generally limited to 20 - 25 typewritten pages, plus references, tables
and figures. Limit references to 30 - 35, and tables and figures to 4 each. Figures can be
35mm transparencies, CT scans, MRI or other radiographic images, and can be reproduced in
black and white or color.
3. Keep abbreviations to a minimum, and explain thoroughly those used.
4. Use only generic names of drugs included in the article.
5. Include on a separate title page all authors' names, academic and clinical
appointments, primary affiliations, city and state. The address, telephone and facsimile
numbers of the principal author for correspondence should also be included. A second page
should contain a 200-word abstract of the article.
6. Refer to the American Medical Association Manual of Style for assistance in
manuscript preparation, or call the Cancer Control editorial office at (813) 632-1349,
7. If copyrighted works (tables, figures, illustrations, etc.) are used, written
permission must be obtained from the copyright owners. In all cases, the material should
carry a proper credit line.
8. Number references consecutively as the appear in the text. Use the AMA style, as
shown in the following examples:
- A. Original articles - Blendon RJ. The prospects for state and local governments playing
a broader role in health care in the 1980s. Am J Public Health. 1981;71:9-15.
- B. Abstracts - Paillard M, Resnick N. Natural history of nosocomial urinary
incontinence. Gerontologist. 1981;24:212. Abstract.
