About the art in this issue:
The son of Italian immigrants, Ettore “Ted” DeGrazia was born in 1909 in an Arizona mining camp surrounded by the colorful native cultures of the Southwest that inspired him during his lifelong career. He achieved international acclaim with his prolific work that included oils, pastels, watercolors, ceramics, serigraphs, lithographs, etchings, sketches, and sculpture. His largest project was DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun, a legendary landmark of Southwestern art and architecture that he designed and built to exhibit his growing collections. Preserved by the DeGrazia Foundation since the artist’s death in 1982, the historic 10-acre foothills site, now listed on the National Registry for Historic Places, is located at 6300 N. Swan in Tucson, Arizona. More information is available at (520) 299-9191,
