Case Description:
A 35-year-old man underwent combined modality therapy for nodular sclerosing
Hodgkins disease, stage IIB, presenting as a large mediastinal mass. After four
courses of chemotherapy, computed tomography (CT) of the chest showed a small residual
mediastinal mass. Gallium scan was performed (Figs 1A-B).
The most likely diagnosis is:
1. residual mediastinal tumor
2. no active disease
3. changes related to therapy
4. opportunistic infection
5. normal thymic uptake
