Case Description:
A 35-year-old woman had a left parietal primitive neuroepithelial
tumor resected followed by radiation and multiple courses of chemotherapy.
She then developed new symptoms of headache and progressive difficulty
with speech. Fig 1 shows a coronal-enhanced magnetic resonance image (MRI)
of the brain taken three months prior to the onset of her new symptoms,

Fig 2 shows a coronal-enhanced MRI of the brain taken at the time of presentation,

and; Fig 3 shows an axial image from a thallium-201 brain scan taken at
the time of presentation.
The thallium brain scan shows:
a. marked uptake in the left parietal zone
that correlates with abnormality seen on the MRI.
b. findings that suggest the possibility of
radiation necrosis.
c. findings that suggest the possibility of
recurrent tumor in the left parietal lobe.
d. normal postoperative changes.
