Community organizations, businesses and individuals throughout the state and nation generously raise funds to benefit Moffitt Cancer Center through a variety of events and activities such as private parties, golf tournaments, fishing tournaments, auctions and car washes. Richard’s Run For Life – Run or walk through the beautiful streets of historic Ybor City in Richard’s Run for Life on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. The 5K race will begin and end at Centennial Park in Ybor City, 1800 E. 8th Ave., in Tampa. Registration is $25 before the race and $30 on race day. All proceeds will benefit the Amandalee Fund for sarcoma research at Moffitt. The event will include a post race party ever sponsored by Columbia Restaurant, Moe’s Southwest Grille and ChaCha Coconuts. The Gonzmart Family Foundation is hosting this race. Fashion Show – Convergencia International will host the 2009 International Hispanic Designer Fashion Show to benefit Moffitt Cancer Center on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at 7 p.m. The event will be held at India Cultural Center at 5511 Lynn Road, Tampa. WALK FOR THE CURE – The Heritage Pines Country Club Community will celebrate the lives of survivors, sufferers and those who have lost the fight against cancer with the second annual WALK FOR THE CURE On Saturday, Nov. 7. The walk begins at 8 a.m. at 11524 Scenic Hills Blvd. in Hudson. The registration fee is $25. This includes a T-shirt, energy bar and continental breakfast. WALK FOR THE CURE is open to the public. Golf Tournament – Join Golfers Against Cancer on Nov. 13, 2009, at Eastlake Woodlands Country Club, 1055 East Lake Woodlands Parkway, Oldsmar, FL, for a golf tournament and wine dinner. The tournament begins at 12:30 p.m. and is followed by dinner. All are invited to attend. Individual golfers can play for $100. Dinner-only tickets are $50. You Can Cure – On Nov. 16, 2009, “You Can Cure,” a student organization at the University of Florida, is holding a forum on Cancer Research and Prevention. All are invited to attend.
