Biographical Information

Dr. Dalton was the Founding Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Arizona. At H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute at the University of South Florida, Dr. Dalton was hired in 1997 as the Associate Center Director for Clinical Investigations. While at Moffitt, Dr. Dalton was appointed Deputy Director in 1999. Additionally, in 1999 he was the Professor and Founding Chairman of the Department of Interdisciplinary Oncology at the University of South Florida, until 2001. He served as Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson from 2001-2002. Dr. Dalton returned to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in August 2002 to serve as its Chief Executive Officer and Center Director.

Publications: Dr. Dalton has published or contributed to more than 200 publications including 28 book chapters; 26 invited reviews and editorials; 153 refereed journal articles and 165 abstracts. His articles and abstracts have appeared in prestigious journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Research Interests: Dr. Dalton has been involved in cancer research for two decades and has authored or co-authored numerous articles in journals such as Cancer Research, Blood, Immunity, and the Journal of Biochemistry. He serves, or has served, on the editorial boards of Clinical Cancer Research, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, Archives of Internal Medicine, Leukemia, American Journal of Oncology Review, and Investigational New Drugs. His research interests include biochemical mechanisms of drug resistance and new drug discovery. He is also an expert in the biology and treatment of multiple myeloma. Dr. Dalton played a major role in obtaining the Molecular Oncology (MOPP) grant for $5 million for Moffitt Cancer Center in 2000.
