Tobacco Research and Intervention Program building

The Tobacco Research and Intervention Program (TRIP) conducts a wide range of tobacco-related research. Among the research areas are: basic research into behavioral and cognitive factors that influence tobacco use; development of improved smoking cessation and relapse-prevention interventions; and development of interventions for unique subgroups of smokers, such as adolescents and pregnant/postpartum women. Research at TRIP has been funded by federal sources including the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute on Drug Abuse and National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, as well as private foundations such as the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association and the Skin Cancer Foundation
