About the Hematopathology Fellowship
Mission
The mission of our fellowship program is to graduate competent hematopathologists who could contribute to the medical field and dedicate in a life-long patient care by creating a scholarly environment that guides and nurtures these trainees to grasp novel clinical and molecular knowledge in benign and malignant hematology and develop appropriate diagnostics, education, research, and laboratory administrative skills.
Hematopathology Fellowship Aims
AIM 1 - To contribute to clinical care and the generation of new knowledge (e.g., molecular diagnosis) in both benign and hematologic malignancies.
AIM 2 - To provide broad-based training in the accurate diagnosis and differential diagnosis of commonly encountered or complex cases and to be eligible for taking subspecialty board by the end of the 1-year fellowship.
AIM 3 - To foster scholarly activities by providing research resources and funding and opportunities to present data in local, institutional, national, and international conferences, or publish the results in peer-reviewed journals.
AIM 4 - To support fellows engaged their time in teaching, nurturing residents, medical students, and fellows from other programs, enhance interdisciplinary communication and collaboration, and contribute to collect teaching materials or write a textbook chapter.
AIM 5 - To develop the skills used in laboratory administration, quality improvements (QI), quality insurance, and leadership and to be familiar with the requirement of physician well-being.

Patient Care
Fellows must be able to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health.
Medical Knowledge
Fellows must demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, epidemiological, and social-behavioral sciences and the application of this knowledge to patient care. The fellow(s) will conduct research with the expectation of presentation and/or publication. The fellow will participate in the teaching of pathology residents and medical students.
Practice-based Learning and Improvement
Fellows must demonstrate the ability to investigate and evaluate their care of patients, to assimilate scientific evidence, and to continuously improve patient care based on constant self - evaluation and life-long learning.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
Fellows must demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in the effective exchange of information and collaboration with patients, their families, and health professionals.
Professionalism
Fellows must demonstrate a commitment to carrying out professional responsibilities and an adherence to ethical principles.
Systems-based Practice
Fellows must demonstrate an awareness of and responsiveness to the larger context and system of health care, as well as the ability to call effectively on other resources in the system to provide optimal health care.
