Olabisi Osunmakinde

The University of South Florida held the 16th Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium on March 22. The symposium is hosted annually by the Office of Graduate Studies and Professional Student Council (GPSC) to showcase the research of graduate students in all disciplines and allow them to obtain feedback from faculty and peers. The event brings together graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, as well as faculty mentors and judges, to foster further academic collaboration.

All posters were reviewed by judges who evaluated various aspects of the poster itself as well as the scholars’ ability to effectively present and discuss their research. Travel awards were presented to the winners.

Olabisi Osunmakinde, a Cancer Immunology PhD student in Dr. Brian Ruffell’s laboratory, presented a poster entitled “Cholesterol Conspiracy: Macrophages as Secret Allies of Prostate Cancer Cells.” The Research Education and Training Office is delighted to share that Olabisi was chosen as a winner in the Health and Life Sciences category! Her abstract defined the role that macrophages play in the progression of prostate cancer.

Congratulations, Olabisi Osunmakinde!
