Dear Friends,

As we continue to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of health care, we must remain steadfast in our work to address cancer health disparities within our system. These disparities, often rooted in social determinants of health, have a profound impact on the health outcomes of our communities. At Moffitt Cancer Center, we are committed to addressing disparities head-on, and our work through the George Edgecomb Society is a testament to that commitment.

In this issue of our newsletter, we showcase the work of one mentoring program and how it led to the creation of an impressive research position. We also highlight the groundbreaking research being done to stop multiple myeloma in its tracks and our incredible progress toward finding a cure.

We also shed light on the connection between the George Edgecomb Society and the George Edgecomb Bar Association, and how both groups are partnering for one cause

You will also find stories about Dr. Doratha Byrd’s inspiration to study health disparities, how two Moffitt doctors traveled to Ghana to care for cancer patients and more!

These are just a few examples of how our community is rallying together to help drive change. If you’d like to learn more about how you can get involved, contact us on the George Edgecomb Society page or call the Moffitt Foundation directly at (813) 745-4017.

Thank you for supporting the George Edgecomb Society!

Regards,

Dr. Patrick Hwu
