Transplant Types
Moffitt’s transplant team considers the various transplant types to determine which will be most beneficial to the patient. They will evaluate the patient’s age, individual needs and medical history. These three types of blood and bone marrow transplants that may be considered including:
- Autologous - stem cells are taken from the patient’s own blood
- Allogeneic- stem cells are collected from a donor
- Syngeneic - stem cells are obtained from an identical twin
