Hodgkin Lymphoma, Leukemia, Multiple Myeloma-Plasma Cell Disorders, Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), Non-Hodgkin LymphomaLeo was born in Venezuela and moved to Tampa with his family when he was 10 years old. He obtained his Associate of Liberal Arts and Associate of Science in Nursing from Hillsborough Community College. He worked as a registered nurse at a level one trauma center in the joint replacement and ortho trauma units. He completed his Bachelor of Science in nursing with honors in 2015 from St. Petersburg College. He then joined the BMT-CI unit at Moffitt Cancer Center in 2016 where he worked as a registered nurse while he advanced his education and training. He completed his advanced practice provider education receiving his Master of Science degree in nursing with honors from the University of Tampa. He was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau in 2018. He joined the BMT-CI Advanced Practice Provider team in April of 2019 where he worked primarily as an inpatient APRN until June of 2023, when he transitioned to the BMT-CI Survivorship Clinic. Thanks to treatment advances, research, clinical trials, and access to care, the number of stem cell transplant and cellular therapy survivors continues to increase; Leo is looking forward to the continued growth of BMT-CI Survivorship and long-term follow-up clinics.
