Breast cancer screening leads to diagnosis

As a community outreach specialist at Moffitt Cancer Center, Viviana is tasked with educating the community about the importance of cancer screenings. An annual mammogram showed she had breast cancer, so she knows their value firsthand.

Diagnosed during a pandemic, Viviana was thankful she could lean on her work colleagues. She also took comfort in that Moffitt offered her a choice of what language she wanted to receive her care. Viviana speaks Spanish natively and had access to a certified interpreter and translation services. "The attention I received was really personal," says Viviana. "It made me feel confident, safe and understood."
