  • Cancer Treatments

Blood and marrow transplant takes healthy blood-forming cells from a donor and infuses those cells into the patient’s bloodstream, where the cells may begin to grow and produce healthy cells and platelets. The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Moffitt is one of only six centers in the nation performing a high volume of transplants with outcomes exceeding expected survival.

Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment in which powerful medications are taken by mouth, injected into a vein or delivered directly into a specific part of the body during surgery to destroy cancerous cells and prevent new ones from growing.

Immunotherapy uses a patient’s immune system to fight his or her cancer. Moffitt scientists and clinicians were instrumental in developing CAR T therapy and TIL Therapy, two types of immunotherapy that have changed the landscape of cancer care. We continue to develop new immunotherapy treatments and are committed to bringing those treatments to patients.

Personalized medicine is Moffitt's approach with all patients. We understand not every cancer is the same and not every patient is the same. We match cancer treatment plans to the patient.

Radiation Therapy helps kill cancerous cells, shrink tumors and alleviate symptoms, radiation-based treatments are used in the management of many different types and stages of cancer.

Surgery can be used to remove a tumor. Moffitt surgeons are among the most experienced in the nation, trained in traditional surgery as well and minimally invasive techniques like robotic surgery.

Targeted therapy destroys tumors with exceptional precision, only interfering with cells with specific molecular characteristics.

  • Cancer Diagnosis

With state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging technology, we can detect rare cancers and other diseases in their earliest stages. All examinations are administered by oncological-trained technologists holding advanced certifications in their specialty.

Genetic testing can provide invaluable information about any inherited cancer risk that can increase the chances of developing certain malignancies. We offer comprehensive genetic risk assessment and genetic testing services.

  • Cancer Screening

A Mammogram is an early detection tool used to check for possible signs of breast cancer. Moffitt mammograms are personally reviewed by an expert physician who specializes in breast screening.

Lung cancer screening can be very effective at identifying potentially cancerous abnormalities like lung nodules long before those abnormalities create tell-tale symptoms.

A colonoscopy is the most effective form of colon cancer screening available today, most experts recommend that people at average risk should have a baseline colonoscopy at age 50.
