    Dr. Emily P. Courtney is a social psychologist, Applied Postdoctoral Fellow in Behavioral Oncology in the Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior, and instructor and Affiliate Graduate faculty member at the University of South Florida. Dr. Courtney completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in experimental research psychology at Cleveland State University, her graduate certificate in Applied Biostatistics at the University of South Florida College of Public Health, and her PhD in Cognition, Neuroscience, and Social Psychology at the University of South Florida. Her research program employs an existential perspective on contributors and impediments to health and well-being considering individual, cultural, and gender-based differences. Dr. Courtney applies these factors to study barriers and facilitators to care for hereditary cancer syndromes, with the ultimate goal of improving prevention, early detection, and health equity in cancer control.
