Aging is one of the top risk factors for cancer incidence, and is linked to poor prognosis, increased metastasis, and an unfavorable response to anti-cancer therapies. In the Gomes lab, I am studying how age-related changes in the tumor microenvironment (TME) drive tumor evolution and cell subpopulation dynamics in lung cancer. Using single-cell RNA-Sequencing, I aim to profile how interactions between cancer cells and neighboring cells of the TME change in young versus aged hosts.
