About Our Catchment Area

The Moffitt Cancer Center catchment area currently includes 23 counties spanning West Central Florida. This area is home to 10.2 million people (47% of the state's population) with an anticipated growth of 11.8% by 2025. In 2020, these counties were also the source of 88.2% of Moffitt's patients. It covers 100% of the counties in two Florida Cancer Control Collaborative regions: East Central Florida and Southwest Florida.
These counties include Brevard, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Desoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole and Sumter.

Community Needs & Priorities
Moffitt conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to identify health needs specific to Moffitt’s 23-county Catchment Area.
The Office of Community Outreach & Engagement is currently conducting the 2025 CHNA.
The 2022 CHNA included analysis of: community surveys (n = 1,864), interviews with 64 key community stakeholders, data on population, cancer burden, and risk factors.
Health needs were reviewed and ranked by importance and feasibility by Moffitt’s Community Advisory Boards: Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) and Tampa Bay Community Cancer Network (TBCCN).
