Overview
Study Title:
Beyond Smoking: Using Augmented Reality to Address Vaping and Dual Use in Emerging Adulthood
Objective:
Aim 1. To develop and pilot test e-cigarette AR cues for dual and e-cigarette-only users aged 18-24. Interviews will be conducted with individuals aged 18-24 who are dual users (i.e., use combustible cigarettes and e-cigarettes) and e-cigarette only users to gather information on the types of e-cigarettes used and the context of use, and to obtain feedback on the existing AR app. Feedback will inform the development of the new set of AR e-cigarette cues to be integrated into the app, along with other app modifications relevant to this age group. The revised app will then be pilot tested among 5 individuals for additional feedback. Aim 2. To obtain feedback from key community college stakeholders about existing and future student programs for dual users and/or e-cigarette-only users. We will conduct interviews to collect information on existing student programs on e-cigarette use and to understand administrators perspectives on facilitating future intervention engagement. Stakeholders will also provide insight into campus policies and culture that may affect the future implementation of the intervention.
