Kaitlyn Miranda

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Miranda, a Cancer PhD student at Moffitt Cancer Center, for earning the National Science Foundation (NSF) BRIDGE to the Doctorate Fellowship. This fellowship is supported by the Florida-Georgia Louis Stokes Alignment for Minority Participation (FGLSAMP) grant through the University of South Florida. The program’s goal is to provide nationally recognized research training and educational opportunities for underrepresented students in pursuit of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) PhD degrees.

The University of South Florida awards only 12 of these fellowships to their students per year!

"I am inspired by this program's commitment to supporting minorities in STEM and am excited to use this chance to grow as a graduate student and make a meaningful impact in cancer research," says Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn has been doing great work in cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center as an ENCOURAGE intern and now a Cancer PhD student. We cannot wait to see her career and educational journey continue to flourish as she pursues her PhD in Cancer Biology!

Receiving the NSF Bridge to the Doctorate fellowship is an exciting step in my academic journey. It opens up amazing opportunities for professional growth and lets me connect with NSF resources and fellow STEM students across the country.
