A student participating in the Youth Ambassadors Program

Three Moffitt offices - Community Outreach and Engagement, Research Education and Training, and Research Career Development - recently partnered with the Sulphur Springs K-8 YMCA Community Partnership school to relaunch the Moffitt Youth Ambassadors Reaching Out Program (YARO).

YARO is designed to educate young people about cancer, prevention and careers in oncology research, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to serve as ambassadors in their communities. Through a mix of educational sessions and hands-on STEM activities, students gained valuable insight into cancer and the importance of prevention.

The program also featured a career panel showcasing professionals at various stages of the oncology research career continuum, including a graduate student trainee, post-doctoral fellow, research faculty member and research support managers. Panels shared their experiences, challenges and resilience, inspiring students with their stories.
