MAP - Postbaccalaureate Program

Moffitt ACS Postbaccalaureate (MAP) in Cancer Research Program is funded by the American Cancer Society (ACS) to provide training for students who have recently obtained a bachelor's degree and need additional experience to take the next step in their path to becoming a cancer researcher.
Program Requirements
Selected trainees will be matched with an experienced research faculty mentor and engage in a full-time, paid, 40 hours per week, hands-on research project for two years. MAP Postbaccs will receive training in research procedures, responsible conduct of research and scientific rigor, career development and mentorship. Trainees will increase their knowledge of the current state of cancer research and clinical care through seminars, lab meetings and assigned literature reading. Trainees will have several presentation opportunities, including Research Day, the annual Moffitt Scientific Symposium and a national conference.
Program Eligibility
- Applicants must have recently completed a bachelor's degree in a STEM major or be within 12 months of graduation from the time of their application.
- Overall final GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Two-year commitment to the program is required.
- Applicants must have the intention to matriculate to graduate, medical, or professional school upon the completion of the program
How to Apply
A complete application includes:
- Personal statement that provides insight into the applicant's motivation for a career in cancer research
- Two letters of reference (one from a person familiar with the student academically and one from a person familiar with the student through other extra-curricular/community service activities)
- University transcripts (unofficial are accepted for the initial application process but official copies will be required upon acceptance into the program)
- Signed statement of commitment
The MAP program is not accepting applications at this time and will re-open in the fall 2026 semester.
