Experts Explore AI Lab Tools at Moffitt Imaging Center
The biggest advances in cancer research may lie in the tiniest of images. This week, experts from Nikon Instruments visited Moffitt Cancer Center’s Nikon Center of Excellence to demonstrate the Eclipse Ji Smart Imaging System, an AI-driven benchtop lab instrument that streamlines cellular imaging and data collection for clinicians and researchers. Above: Nikon’s Larry Kordon; Jacob Sawyer, PhD; and Jorge Gomez, DVM, demo the instrument for Jose Serrano-Velez, PhD, Couch Bioimaging director for Moffitt’s Nikon Center of Excellence, and Bismark Madera Soto, a microscopy specialist from the Nikon Center of Excellence at the University of Puerto Rico’s Molecular Sciences Research Center.
As the first standalone cancer center in the world to open a Nikon Center of Excellence, Moffitt serves as a hub for high-end microscopy, innovative imaging techniques and technology-driven research collaborations. Demos like this help scientists and clinicians explore the advanced capabilities of state-of-the-art imaging platforms that can shed light on how cancer cells behave and react to new therapies.
“We are excited to partner with researchers from across the United States to share how Moffitt’s experts are using these types of innovative Nikon technologies to explore the cancer treatments of tomorrow,” Serrano-Velez explained.
