Hockey Fights Cancer Night took place at Amelie Arena on Nov. 25, 2024.

Each November, the National Hockey League honors those impacted by cancer through its Hockey Fights Cancer initiative.

On Nov. 25, the Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night game at AMALIE Arena. Cancer patients and survivors, alongside their caretakers and families, were recognized throughout the game, while fans paused to remember those whose lives were cut short by a devastating diagnosis.

Several Moffitt Cancer Center patients, survivors and team members were among those recognized with a visit the radio booth, a ride on the Fan Zam and the chance to sit in the penalty box to watch pre-game warmups.

The Bolts presented Moffitt founder H. Lee Moffitt and Vice President of Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Merritt Martin with a $30,000 donation representing funds raised through the team’s 50/50 raffle to help benefit cancer research and patient services.

The Lightning capped off the unforgettable night with an 8-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
