About the Radiation Oncology Program

Moffitt Cancer Center's Radiation Oncology Program utilizes a comprehensive and collaborative effort that highlights the expertise of our entire team including our radiation oncologists, nursing specialists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists and supportive care professionals. This multi-disciplinary approach maximizes the specialties of our physicians in every area of oncology to work cohesively in a single practice and provide personalized treatment to each patient at Moffitt that may require radiation.

At Moffitt, we emphasize that teamwork and collaboration, not just the technology, equates to superior treatment. Each member of our team, whether it be our oncologists, therapists, dosimetrists, or physicists, applies their dedicated field of expertise to all cases, allowing us to select the most promising treatments and technologies we can offer for every patient’s unique diagnosis. This individualized approach helps us improve outcomes, limit side effects, and enhance the quality of life that the patient will experience.

The Department of Radiation Oncology promotes continued development and effectiveness of differential treatment through its strategic mission, the "Future of Radiation Therapy" (FORT), establishing an infrastructure and goal to become a global epicenter for precision radiotherapy with the sole purpose of improving cure rates while reducing toxicity. This bold aim joins the collective strengths of the Radiation Oncology Program with those of several essential clinical and research programs at Moffitt.

Radiation therapy is an integral part of Moffit’s comprehensive cancer care and is characterized by the strong cooperation between our various teams, the implementation of the latest technologies using each unique area of expertise, and the continued development of a foundation that promotes novel techniques across all fields of radiation treatment. The powerful combination of these elements promises to our teams to optimize and dynamically adapt radiation therapy treatment, planning, and delivery.
