My research program focuses on primary prevention strategies to reduce the rising trends in early onset colorectal cancer incidence in the United States and globally.  I'm interested in using digital tools (e.g., mHealth) to develop health communication interventions to promote awareness of colorectal cancer and motivate screening behaviors among young adults (20 to 45 years), as well as address modifiable lifestyle risk factors like smoking, alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, and sedentary behaviors, that contribute to early onset colorectal cancer. My program of research is being conducted under the guidance of a multidisciplinary team of mentors: Drs. Clement Gwede and Cathy Meade, who are Senior faculty members with decades of experience and expertise in colorectal cancer screening and early prevention research, and Dr. Christine Vinci, who is an Associate faculty member with expertise in developing and implementing mHealth interventions for cancer prevention.
