Tim Hembree, DO, PhD

Vice President, Chief Quality Officer

Tim Hembree, DO, PhD, is vice president and chief quality officer at Moffitt Cancer Center. He leads Moffitt’s Quality department and provides oversight of quality metrics reporting both externally and internally, regulatory readiness, risk management and infection prevention. Hembree also serves as the interim chair of Internal and Hospital Medicine (IHM). 

Hembree’s research interest is focused on frailty in the hospitalized cancer patient. His clinical focus is on the care of patients with preexisting or chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, COPD, and hypertension, that require inpatient hospitalization during cancer treatment. He also specializes in acute problems that arise during cancer treatment.

Hembree received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie, Florida, and his doctorate degree in biochemistry at the University of Texas, Health Science Center, in San Antonio, Texas. He completed an internal medicine residency at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

He also serves as the executive sponsor for Moffitt’s UNITY Team Member Engagement Network, which is a voluntary and employee-led group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer + team members and their allies.
