At Moffitt Cancer Center, we believe nurses are the heart and backbone of healthcare. We champion nursing and are committed to promoting its importance, values and contributions. We also understand the significance of a smooth transition from nursing student to practicing clinician. To support newly licensed registered nurses (RNs) pursuing the specialized field of oncology nursing, we offer a comprehensive, evidence-based oncology nurse residency program that combines theoretical and practical elements.

Participants in Moffitt’s one-year oncology nurse residency program can benefit from in-depth education on oncology-specific topics such as cancer biology, treatment strategies, symptom management and supportive care. Our curriculum includes didactic sessions, clinical training and mentorship from experienced oncology nurses and other healthcare professionals. In addition to classroom lectures, our nurse residents participate in professional practice sessions, receiving hands-on training through simulation sessions specific to oncology.
