PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program Information
General Description
H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is a non-profit institution located in Tampa, Florida. Moffitt's mission is to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer with a vision to create revolutionary breakthroughs and innovations that rapidly impact and save more lives. Education and training are fundamental to Moffitt's vision. In support of this, Moffitt is an academic training institution, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). It is affiliated with the University of South Florida (USF) College of Medicine and provides training to medical students, residents, and fellows. Additionally, Moffitt Cancer Center's Department of Pharmacy offers two ASHP-accredited residency programs: PGY1 Pharmacy and PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy.
Moffitt Cancer Center has offered pharmacy specialty residencies since 1991. The Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Moffitt offers a 12-month program designed to build upon PGY1 training and further develop clinical, research, leadership, and education skills with an enhanced focus in oncology. The PGY2 resident will manage patients with diverse oncologic conditions and will be actively involved with therapeutic decision-making in an interdisciplinary environment. The PGY2 resident will work closely with dedicated preceptors and participate in all aspects of advanced oncology pharmacy practice. Upon completion of the Moffitt PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy program, the resident will have gained the skills and confidence to practice independently in a variety of oncology pharmacy settings, achieve oncology pharmacy board certification, and pursue a specialized oncology pharmacy position on a national level.
