student celebrates National Postdoc Day

From September 15 to 19, the Research Education and Training (RET) team celebrated National Postdoctoral Appreciation Week. Since 2009, the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) has sponsored this annual event to recognize the vital contributions postdoctoral scholars make to research. Organizations around the world participate by hosting special events, and in 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives officially recognized the week.

This year’s theme was Communicating Your Science and Research, and Moffitt’s celebrations ranged from fun to educational. To highlight the work of our 110 postdocs, RET hosted a variety of events, including:

  • A frozen treat and baseball cap giveaway
  • A pizza and paint-your-own plant pot social
  • Grant Writing 101, an intensive, faculty-led training session focused on the essentials of grant writing

National Postdoc Appreciation Week at Moffitt is a blend of engaging activities and skill-building sessions, fostering a supportive environment where postdocs feel valued and empowered in their research journeys. We look forward to continuing this tradition and championing the growth of our future scientific leaders.
