Our Environmental Services team from across Moffitt campuses.

At Moffitt Cancer Center, healing extends far beyond medicine. Behind the scenes, our Environmental Services team plays an essential role in ensuring every patient, family member and team member walks into a safe, clean and welcoming environment. During Environmental Services Week, we are proud to celebrate these dedicated professionals whose work touches every corner of our center and every step of a patient’s healing journey.

Meet our Environmental Services team and learn more about their role in creating a safe and healing environment.

Creating a Healing Environment Together

For Moffitt’s Environmental Services team, their work goes far beyond making our facilities look good. “Environmental Services is more than just keeping the hospital clean. Our work directly impacts patient safety by preventing infections and creating a healing environment,” said Legna Guzman.

That sense of purpose is shared by the entire team.

“My role supports patients by providing an environment where they can focus on healing and staff can concentrate on care without extra worries,” Margarita Grullon said. It’s a responsibility that blends precision, compassion and teamwork qualities that make Environmental Services an essential part of patient care at Moffitt.

Teamwork, Compassion and Pride in Every Detail

Environmental Services professionals know that attention to detail is vital in health care.

“Every room you prepare and every surface you disinfect plays a role in protecting patients, families and staff. Take pride in the details, ask questions when you’re unsure and know that what you do truly makes a difference,” Quansha Russ said.

For Carmen Luisi Bolognese, working with Environmental Services means being part of something bigger.

“We work hard so that doctors and nurses can work in a clean environment,” she said. “I find joy in coming to work because my team has the best people I’ve ever worked with. We have harmony. Everyone helps, is happy and there are no complaints.”

A Mission of Healing, One Space at a Time

The work of Environmental Services is both deeply practical and profoundly meaningful. From disinfecting high-touch surfaces to preparing patient rooms for new arrivals, every action supports Moffitt’s mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.

“A sterile environment reduces the risk of infections and complications, which is essential for patients with weakened immune systems,” Russ added. “Beyond safety, a clean and orderly space also helps patients feel more comfortable, reduces stress and promotes dignity during a difficult time.”

Celebrating Our Heroes

This Environmental Services Week, we extend our deepest gratitude to our Environmental Services team. Every clean room, disinfected surface and supportive gesture contributes to hope and the recovery of our patients.
