Moffitt Recognizes the Outstanding Contributions of Pharmacy Professionals
In celebration of National Pharmacy Week, Moffitt Cancer Center honors the extraordinary dedication and expertise of its pharmacy professionals. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians play a critical role in providing the highest quality of care to patients, ensuring that medication therapies are both safe and effective for each patient’s unique treatment plan. The pharmacy team also works directly with the primary health care team, rounding with physicians, planning with nurses, coordinating with the lab, facilitating research and providing patient and staff education.
In 2018, Moffitt introduced the Pharmacy Excellence Awards to recognize the hard work and dedication of its pharmacists and technicians. This week, the spotlight shines on the exceptional contributions of the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician of the Year. These individuals embody Moffitt's core values of compassion, drive, excellence, imagination and inclusion.
Pharmacist of the Year: Tracy Yoder
Tracy Yoder's journey into pharmacy stemmed from a desire to help others. Initially considering careers as a physician or nurse, she ultimately chose pharmacy for its unique combination of patient care and work-life balance. "I didn’t think I would be in oncology, but the more I learned about it, the more interested I became. As a pharmacist, there are so many ways to help patients," Yoder said.
