Resources Available to Patients in Need After Storms
Florida counties hit hard by both Hurricanes Helene and Milton are struggling to recover from the damage, flooding, power outages, gas shortages and more. With so many Floridians facing significant personal losses from the aftermath, Moffitt Cancer Center is sharing resources available to patients, team members and the community.
Here you’ll find a list of immediate and long-term recovery resources:
General Resources:
- American Cancer Society: For guidance on coping with cancer after a natural disaster, please visit this link.
- USA.GOV: Learn how the U.S. government is responding to Hurricane Helene and find recovery resources here.
- FEMA: For assistance to apply for disaster assistance and other resources to help you recover click here.
Financial Assistance:
- State of Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan: For immediate financial assistance to bridge the gap until longer term recovery funding is secured.
- SBA Disaster Loans: Information on loans for businesses affected by the disaster.
- Florida Disaster Fund: The state’s official private fund to assist residents. You can offer cash donations here.
Community Support:
- American Red Cross: Accepts cash donations to assist those impacted by the storm. You can give here.

- United Way Suncoast: Provides resources for receiving assistance and volunteering opportunities here.
- Feeding Tampa Bay: Offering food assistance for those affected by the hurricane. You can donate here.
- Metropolitan Ministries: Provides food and shelter assistance for the homeless population in the Tampa Bay area. You can give financially here.
