TAMPA, Fla. Moffitt Cancer Center was recently named one of HealthCare’s Most Wired organizations for 2020 by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). This is the third year that CHIME has conducted the survey. A total of 30,091 organizations were represented in the program, which this year included four surveys: domestic, ambulatory, long-term care and international.

This annual survey is conducted to assess how effectively health care organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities. The surveys assessed the adoption, integration and impact of technologies in health care organizations at all stages of development, from early development to industry leading.

"I am delighted that this is Moffitt’s second year achieving this prestigious award," said Beth Lindsay-Wood, Moffitt’s vice president and chief information officer. "It’s an honor to be recognized for our technological efforts that help us expand access to care and deliver an exceptional patient experience, which helps us in advancing our mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer."

This is the second year CHIME recognized Moffitt as one of the Most Wired organizations. Moffitt achieved a level 7 special recognition for its ambulatory and acute efforts.

"Digital technology has been a driver of innovation in health care for many years now, but never to the degree that we saw in 2020 with the pandemic," said CHIME President and CEO Russell P. Branzell. "The Digital Health Most Wired program underscores why health care organizations keep pushing themselves to be digital leaders and shows what amazing feats they can achieve. This certification recognizes their exemplary performance in 2020."

As in past years, CHIME will publish an industry trends report based on Digital Health Most Wired responses from U.S. participants. The 2020 National Trends Report is scheduled to be released in November during CHIME20 Digital.
