Guided by our commitment to patient and family-centered care and patient safety, we strive to deliver comprehensive treatment and support services tailored to each cancer patient’s unique needs.

Our multispecialty team emphasizes a collaborative approach to critical care, ensuring timely interventions, specialized organ support, life-sustaining measures, effective pain management and emotional comfort. The ICU is staffed by physicians and healthcare professionals specially trained in critical care and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Led by critical care physicians, our team includes nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical pharmacists, respiratory therapists, vascular access specialists, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dieticians, social workers, case managers and chaplains.

Our nursing team achieved Magnet designation, a testament to the culture of excellence in nursing services and professional practice provided through continuous education, research and quality improvement initiatives.

While life's critical moments are unpredictable and cannot always be prevented, our patients and their families can trust that they will receive highly specialized care when needed most. Driven by empathy and respect for everyone’s dignity, we are honored to serve our community and contribute to advances in the field of critical care oncology.

The goal of the ICU is to improve patient outcomes, enhance quality of life, and provide hope and comfort throughout a patient's cancer treatment.

Critical Care Pharmacists in the ICU

Our team of eight critical care pharmacists plays a vital role within the ICU multispeciality team, providing coverage seven days a week. Specializing in pharmacotherapy, we focus on optimizing medication regimens tailored to critically ill patients. Our expertise encompasses considerations such as organ dysfunction, complex drug interactions and individual patient needs. Through comprehensive medication reviews, we ensure medication safety and efficacy, leading to significant reductions in medication errors, adverse drug reactions and unnecessary pharmaceutical costs.

In addition to our clinical roles, our critical care pharmacists provide valuable education and guidance to the care team on new drugs, evidence-based practices and emerging therapies in critical care. We actively participate in patient care rounds, respond promptly to medical emergencies and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Our commitment to advocating for medication safety directly enhances patient outcomes.
