Moffitt Cancer Center Speros Outpatient Center represents the beginning of a significant expansion of access to NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center care for patients in Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, and northern Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
The new outpatient facility addresses the complexities of coordinating cancer care with patients' convenience in mind, bringing the full spectrum of oncology services closer to where patients live and work. The 117,000-square-foot Moffitt at Speros Outpatient Center, conveniently located in Land O' Lakes just off the Suncoast Parkway, reduces travel time while centralizing multidisciplinary services under one roof.
Comprehensive Services for Streamlined Care Coordination
Moffitt at Speros offers diagnostic imaging, blood draw and clinical laboratory services, medical oncology clinics with 18 exam rooms, surgical consults, radiation therapy, infusion therapy with 22 chemotherapy bays, and radiation oncology services with four dedicated exam rooms. Cancer screening services include mammography and lung cancer screening.
Once a diagnosis is established, medical oncology consultation, treatment planning, and therapeutic delivery can all occur within the same facility. Patients will have access to Moffitt's extensive clinical trial portfolio, offering cutting-edge investigational therapies for those who have exhausted standard treatment options or are candidates for novel first-line approaches.
Leadership Built on Clinical Excellence
Dr. Michael Shafique, Medical Director of Moffitt Cancer Center at Speros, was recently recognized as a top doctor in Medical Oncology by Tampa Magazine's Top Doctors 2025. He completed his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center, and fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at USF/Moffitt Cancer Center.
Dr. Shafique specializes in thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, neuroendocrine tumors, Pancoast tumors, and thymoma. He also manages gynecologic malignancies and oversees early-phase clinical trials across diverse diagnoses.
The Future of Radiation Oncology: Proton Therapy
Later in 2026, the Speros campus will debut the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Proton Center, featuring the Proteus®ONE system, making Moffitt the first facility in the Tampa Bay area to offer this advanced technology.
The Proteus®ONE represents next-generation proton therapy technology. As regulatory clearances are obtained, the system may offer emerging technologies such as ConformalFLASH® and DynamicARC®. The integration of proton therapy within the broader Speros campus, a 775-acre biotech research park, positions the facility as both a clinical care destination and a hub for translational research.

To support referring physicians, Moffitt has appointed Jason Bever as the dedicated Physician Liaison for the Speros campus. With more than 20 years of experience in oncology and prior leadership roles within Moffitt’s Physician Relations team, Jason’s mission is to be a direct resource for you and your practice. He is available to visit your practice, answer questions about appropriate referral pathways, facilitate communication with Moffitt specialists, and schedule private tours of the new facility.
