Dr. Chen's research focuses on the development and application of statistical methods to address complex questions in cancer research. His methodological interests include causal inference, survival and longitudinal data analysis, clinical trial design, predictive modeling, and methods for leveraging electronic health record and other real-world data. He is particularly interested in approaches for estimating treatment effects and treatment-effect heterogeneity, addressing time-varying confounding and censoring, and improving the design and analysis of cancer clinical trials and observational studies. His collaborative research spans cancer prevention, treatment, survivorship, and patient-centered outcomes, with the overarching goal of translating rigorous quantitative methods into clinically meaningful evidence to improve cancer care and outcomes.
