Your Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Specialists
The invasive ductal carcinoma specialists at Moffitt Cancer Center form a multispecialty team that is dedicated to diagnosing, treating and eliminating breast cancer. Our specialists, who are part of the Don & Erika Wallace Comprehensive Breast Program, meet regularly as a tumor board to review each patient’s case and develop an individualized treatment plan that takes into account all aspects of the cancer. Their high level of experience and unsurpassed dedication to each patient contributes to the successful outcomes that help our patients achieve a better quality of life.
Moffitt’s invasive ductal carcinoma team includes:
- Medical oncologists, who create chemotherapy and hormone therapy treatment plans
- Radiation oncologists, who create radiation therapy treatment plans
- Surgical oncologists, who perform lumpectomies and mastectomies to surgically remove cancerous tissue
In addition, the tumor board also includes many other specialists. Our pathologists examine tissue samples and run lab tests, and our radiologists use medical imaging to determine the nature, size and location of the cancer. The information they provide is invaluable, as it provides guidance for the treatment plan and also helps monitor the patient’s progress throughout treatment. In cases where a mastectomy is performed, our plastic surgeons and breast reconstruction experts can rebuild the breast after treatment. Fertility preservation specialists can help patients understand their options for preserving fertility during and after treatment, and genetic testing and counseling specialists can determine if genetic mutation contributed to the cancer.
Moffitt patients can also receive support from family advisors, social workers, pain management professionals, and others who provide physical, emotional and spiritual support throughout treatment and recovery. Moffitt offers all of these services in a single location for the convenience and benefit of our patients.
Treating invasive ductal carcinoma requires the help of many different specialists, and Moffitt Cancer Center brings together some of the leading medical professionals in breast cancer to provide comprehensive treatment and supportive care services. To schedule an appointment at Moffitt, call 1-888-663-3488 or fill out a new patient registration form online. No referral is necessary.
