Skin Cancer Care Team
The cutaneous oncology specialists at Moffitt Cancer Center provide individualized treatment and supportive care to people with all types of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers. Our patients benefit from the expertise of physicians from multiple specialties who focus exclusively on skin malignancies and have a unique level of experience treating even the most uncommon and aggressive cancers. If you are a referring physician, you can be assured that your patient will be in the most capable of hands at Moffitt.
Moffitt’s skin cancer treatment team
Moffitt’s Cutaneous Oncology Program, which is led by Vernon Sondak, MD, is widely regarded as one of the premier skin cancer programs in the nation. Our patients can receive all-encompassing treatment and care from:
- Dermatologists
- Medical oncologists
- Radiation oncologists
- Surgical oncologists
- Pathologists / Dermatopathologists
- Radiologists
- Plastic surgeons
- Supportive care professionals
Our cutaneous oncology specialists collaborate to create individualized treatment plans for each and every patient, refining them as necessary to ensure the best possible outcome and quality of life for those we serve. Moffitt offers the latest advances in skin cancer treatment, such as cryotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as traditional procedures, such as Mohs micrographic surgery and electrodessication. Targeted radiation therapy and chemotherapy may also be recommended for certain patients.
Furthermore, Moffitt spearheads an ambitious clinical trials program that allows our patients to receive breakthrough treatments before those options are made widely available. Our relentless research efforts have resulted in multiple distinctions from the National Cancer Institute, including a Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) grant for melanoma research and recognition as a Comprehensive Cancer Center. Moffitt is the only such center based in Florida.
Referring physicians can contact Moffitt’s cutaneous oncology specialists by completing an online form or contact a physician liaison for assistance or support. We emphasize short referral times and strive to respond to all requests within 24 business hours.
