While many cancer survivors live long, vibrant lives, survivorship comes with unique, ongoing physical and mental health challenges. Fortunately, studies show that those survivors who actively adopt lifestyle changes can significantly close the health gap.

To address this need, the SOAR Program was created by members of the Moffitt Survivorship Program in 2018. What began as a small in-person class discussion soon led to a 9-week virtual program and now to a webinar series that aims to support patients' emotional and physical health as they transition from active care into the recovery or survivorship phase of cancer.

Education and hands-on learning opportunities address topics such as mindful eating, nutrition, emotional health and well-being, exercise, meditation and the use of the arts for healing. Survivors learn through activities such as art, meditation, mindful eating, medical management discussions, yoga, and physical activity to strengthen their bodies, minds and spirits.

The SOAR Webinar is a quarterly series designed to further support, educate, and empower survivors. Led by oncology experts, this series provides actionable tools to help survivors regain confidence, manage long-term side effects, and improve overall quality of life.

Each session identifies a learning objective salient to cancer survivors. Topics are led by our very own doctors, advanced practice providers, dietitians, social workers, physical therapists, artists-in-residence and certified yoga instructors. At its heart, SOAR is a program that equips cancer survivors at any stage post-treatment, long-term thrivers, caregivers, family members and patient advocates.
