Important Information for Humana Medicare Patients Receiving Care at Moffitt Cancer Center
Dear Patient,
A reminder: Humana has agreed that eligible established Humana Medicare patients in active treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center may continue their care with Continuity of Care through December 29, 2026. This agreement is meant to allow patients to remain with their Moffitt cancer care team during this period, despite network changes.
You may still receive calls, letters, or other messages from Humana that suggest you should switch to an in-network provider or request an “out-of-network waiver.” These messages can be confusing and may not clearly state that you may be able to continue treatment at Moffitt under Continuity of Care.
If you are still in active treatment, it is appropriate to tell your primary care provider that changing cancer doctors in the middle of treatment is not acceptable to you. You can clearly state that you want to continue at Moffitt and ask your primary care provider to request the referrals or authorizations needed to support your ongoing care here whenever your benefits allow.
Any interruption, delay, or forced change in your cancer treatment can be harmful and is a serious concern. Moffitt will advocate for you and will work to hold Humana to its Continuity of Care agreement so that eligible patients can continue receiving treatment at Moffitt through the agreed upon date.
Moffitt has agents who are standing by to assist you with any decisions about changing doctors, treatment locations, or health plans.
Our Financial Clearance (insurance) team can:
- Review your Humana Medicare plan details
- Help you understand how any changes could impact your care and costs
If you have received outreach from Humana or have an upcoming appointment at Moffitt, please call our insurance experts at 813-745-7300 so we can review your options together and help protect your access to care at Moffitt.
