The GIST specialists at Moffitt Cancer Center provide patients with individualized treatment plans that have been tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient. Our GIST specialists take a collaborative approach to patient care to meet our patients’ needs in a single, convenient location. Our Gastrointestinal Oncology Program and Sarcoma Program are comprised of physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

At Moffitt Cancer Center, each new patient’s case is extensively reviewed by our tumor board, a multispecialty team of experts that consists of:

  • Medical oncologists
  • Surgical oncologists
  • Radiation oncologists
  • Interventional radiologists
  • Pathologists
  • Endoscopy specialists
  • Nurses

These medical professionals use their combined knowledge to develop an individualized treatment plan for each unique patient. Our GIST team also continues to monitor patients throughout treatment and will make any necessary adjustments to their treatment plans as needed.

Additionally, patients receiving treatment from the GIST specialists at Moffitt may have the opportunity to participate in one of our advanced clinical trials. We are the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida, an achievement that speaks directly to our commitment to cancer research and providing leading-edge treatment options. Our robust clinical trials program allows patients to benefit from the latest breakthroughs in treatment before they are made widely available.

If you have been diagnosed with a gastrointestinal stromal tumor or are experiencing symptoms consistent with the condition, call 1-888-663-3488 or complete a new patient registration form online to discuss your treatment options with Moffitt’s GIST specialists. We do not require referrals.
