When will Moffitt begin offering proton therapy?
Consultations with a radiation oncologist are available now.
How do I refer a patient for proton therapy?
Submit the physician referral form and indicate that the patient is coming to Moffitt for a proton therapy consult. Patients will be seen for a consultation in the Radiation Oncology Program to determine if they are a candidate for proton therapy.
I have a patient who wants to be considered for proton therapy. Can I talk to someone at Moffitt about their case?

To support referring physicians, Moffitt has appointed Jason Bever as the dedicated physician liaison for the Speros campus. With more than 20 years of experience in oncology and prior leadership roles within Moffitt’s Physician Relations team, Jason’s mission is to be a direct resource for you and your practice. He is available to visit your practice, answer questions about appropriate referral pathways, facilitate communication with Moffitt specialists, and schedule private tours of the new facility.
Is proton therapy covered by insurance?
Moffitt accepts several major insurance plans as well as Medicare and Medicaid. Coverage for proton therapy varies by insurance plan and diagnosis. Patients can check with their insurance company about proton therapy coverage, or they can contact our Financial Clearance Unit at 813-745-7300 or FCUinsuranceNavigator@Moffitt.org, and we will be happy to answer questions.
